Site Relaunch

MP900289196I'm very excited to announce that I'm finally going to bring this site back from the dead and produce a ton of new content all based on my love of toys!

When I started this site back in 2011 it was part of my "make money online" portfolio of sites. The idea was to start a site based on something that you have an interest in, attract visitors who are searching for certain keywords and then make money though ads or affiliate links. The posts were determined by studying which keywords got a lot of searches and didn't have a lot of competition.

As you can see, I only made 5 or 6 posts before I got bored with it. The idea of writing just to attract certain search engine visitors seems foolish to me now, but up until a few months ago it was something that I was really into.

Now I'm just going to be writing about toys because I want to, not because it's a money making scheme (although I will still have affiliate links and ads on the site, making money isn't my primary focus any more).

Video will be a big part of the new ToyCrunch.com. I have two little kids who love legos and Angry Birds and one day we stumbled upon some videos on YouTube of a little kid making videos of his new Lego and Angry Birds toys. I later discovered that this kid has a channel with over 100 videos! They are very well produced (I'm assuming his Mom or Dad is a video production whiz) and he gets tons of views! If you don't know about EvanTubeHD, check it out right now! I've embedded the latest episode below:

Seeing these videos made me want to make my own videos reviewing toys, and that's what I'm going to do! I've shot a couple already with my kids and it's been a lot of fun for all of us. They really enjoy it and love seeing themselves on screen. I'm still editing them as I write this, it's taking a lot longer than I expected! I really admire the quality of the EvanTube videos and can appreciate how hard it must be to achieve. I'll get there eventually but these first few vids are going to be pretty rough!

So that's about it for now. I just wanted to get a new post up here and officially announce that ToyCrunch will be up and running with fresh, new content very soon. Hmmm...since it's been just about 2 years since my last post I wonder if anyone is going to ever read this?  Do me a favor and drop a comment down below if you read this, just to let me know that someone other than me has been here.  Thanks!
